Green dresses are for badasses. Wool body with polyester lining. A beast to make, but beautifully worth it.

Sun

Haven’t been up to much. If there’s one thing lacking in the city, it’s a nice private place with good lighting for photos.

Maybe I’ll go take a walk and try to find one, but it seems there’s always someone watching. Whether it be from a window above, a boat on the river, or rolling by on a car, somebody is in the open.

A simple shift dress was the last thing I made, aside from my curtains, which are pretty unspectacular haha. It’s linen, taffeta, and ribbons. A bit too summery for the weather now, but I did make it in the summer.

Close up!

I’ve caught this awful cold and had to take the day off because it had me too congested and feverish to go to work. I think someone needs to invent clothing that makes you feel better—like health promoting factors embedded in the fabric. Or maybe they can make a detergent that sticks health factors in the fabric. Or better yet, it’ll be laundry sheets and the heat makes them stick. Obviously I’m delirious.

The inside of a sunflower, a reminder that everything is still beautiful.

Cairo, city maps, upclose.

I’d say 2 hours after magic hour is still magic if you have a good reflector.

For a limited time (until someone else buys it), you can purchase this dress and donate to Japan Relief and Rebuild in the process! Fits around a medium.

This dress features diagonal pleating with the map of Tokyo printed in Japan’s flag motif and semi-hidden ruffles in the back. The draping was a labor of love, so if you own it, you actually own hours of my life.

Photographs by Terence Lee. Modeled by Erica Fagin.

For the low low price of $65.00! But wait, there’s more!

There actually isn’t more.

Billy Mays, where are you when we need you?

Bird number two

A lesson in photo shoots: don’t leave the set.

Model: Jen Wells-Qu
Photographer: Emily Lo
Hair+Makeup: Apez Dream Team

I had to walk away from the shoot to go attend to a model stuck in the bathroom because her weave is too big to put clothes on over (which is apparently not a problem for seasoned professional models because, according to designers, they stand around naked backstage most of the time and always have 5 people dressing them…)Just slipping in an uncomfortable little secret, you know.

Photographers are always preoccupied with adjusting their lens and the model never knows what they look like, so when you walk away, the shoot looses direction. You can’t see the dress in half the pictures and let’s be Tyra here, there’s no connection with the camera.

And it’s not the fault of the photographer or the model, you just always need a 3rd set of eyes to say “hold it ladies, this is looking a little weird.”

And let’s get some !Regal up in here.

You wouldn’t believe how much fabric is in this dress if I told you, oh and I’ll tell you. 4 yards in that skimpy little thing…made on the bias of course.

Dennell, I don’t know what happened, but you gave me so much sass about the makeup.

So it goes.
